Bloc Party - A Weekend in the City [2007]

A Weekend in the City is the second studio album by Bloc Party released on 5 February 2007. It was produced by Jacknife Lee and was met with generally favourable reviews. To date, over 1 million copies have been sold worldwide. The album deals much more with normal day working life than debut album Silent Alarm, drawing themes from the London Bombings, immigration, drug abuse, Black British lifestyle, and criticism of youth subculture and casual sex.

According to Drowned Sound:

"[It] is the aural adaptation, a digital manifestation, of what it’s like to be a twenty-something in Britain, today. It’s dirty, dishevelled, unsure and paranoid; fearful, easily distracted, boisterous and ashamed; reckless, wild, nervous and terrified; graceful, thought-provoking, clumsy and contradictory.
