Silent Alarm is the debut studio album by British band Bloc Party. It was released on 14 February 2005 in the UK. To date, over 1 million copies have been sold worldwide.
Silent Alarm received "universal acclaim" from critics. The album's fast pace was often praised, with one reviewer stating that some of the tracks "re-iterate the uncontrollability of the modern condition", while another said that it instated Bloc Party as "the realists crashing the world's gala of delusion." Drowned in Sound claimed that the record "showcases how exciting British Music is capable of being", something that became evident when it was nominated for the 2005 Mercury Music Prize.
